Fariad Ali
“I have been documenting this poetry in life for some 38 years now. I currently live in the United States, and my paintings have expanded beyond wildlife to include landscapes and Western art. I try to expose the image with deliberate and rhythmic brushwork and a mesh of thick and thin paint to try and capture the life and feeling of what I am looking at.”

Bill Garton
Artistry in Wood
William Garton has worked in various areas of woodworking for many years as a sideline to his profession of physical therapy, designing making and installing cabinets, designing and making furniture, as well as framing and finishing work. Several
After retiring in 1996, Bill started a business of restoring kitchens and bathrooms. Having received a wood-turning lathe as a birthday gift from his family in 1994, he occasionally tried his hand at learning the art of the use of a lathe. Relying on a book for beginning turners and using pieces of firewood, he soon learned to turn bowls suitable for gifts to family and friends.
Becoming more and more intrigued with the possibilities of self-expression that turning allowed, he closed his restoration business and began experimenting with different ways of cutting and laminating woods of various colors that would produce not only multicolored but interesting designs when turned on the lathe. After six months of trying different methods, Bill finally produced a form that he was looking for. From these blanks he began turning pepper mills which have become his signature pieces.
When the blank has been rounded to size, he lets his artistic side take over and shapes the piece, using different tools until the desired design is formed. Bill uses no dyes or stains but relies on a finish of oil and buffing to bring out the colors of the wood. He also uses this same method of lamination in many of his salt mills, rolling pins, candle holders and ornaments.
His pieces have won awards in art shows and fairs.
Bill is a member of The American Association of Woodturners, Redlands Art Assoc., Sun Lakes Art Guild and Sun Lakes Woodworkers.
Margaret Goodward
Dimensional Collage Artist
Long ago, for fun, Margaret built complex polyhedrons out of cut paper. In college, she studied both art and psychology, working in monoprint, collagraph, blind embossing and hand-papermaking. Today her art making still shows her love for paper. She uses solid papers in bright colors to create layered, dimensional collages that are sometimes non-objective and at other times abstractly reference nature. Their artistic foci are positive-negative space, transparency and an active visual balance. They are mounted so they appear to “float” in the frame. Several recent series are on the themes of “Burning Bushes” and “Stars” (the kind in the sky) and a new series of “Fans”. In addition, she will offer a new 2009 Advent Garland.

Shane M Keena
As an avid scuba diver marine forms are sources of visual and formal inspiration, yet my agenda is not to recreate what already exists in the world but rather to create objects that are chimeras; the result of a blending of ideas begging the question; “is it animal, mineral or vegetable?” I am for my work to come to life within arm’s reach, where eyesight blurs into touch with the objective of creating new, enigmatic and uncategorized art forms.
